Digital ID: The Trojan Horse for a UK social credit system
... and the end of freedom as we know it
By Gary Chappell
IT WAS once derided as ‘conspiracy theory’ but the UK Government is planning to introduce a Digital ID – which creates the infrastructure for a social credit system.
The ‘BritCard’ is being framed as a tool to streamline immigration checks and bolster national security – with MPs somehow believing it will stop the boats. But beneath the shiny veneer lies a troubling blueprint for a dystopian future, one that risks handing over unprecedented control of citizens’ lives to the state and its allied corporate interests.
This initiative is not just about convenience; it is about creating an all-encompassing infrastructure ripe for exploitation and control.
Let’s consider the surveillance implications. Embedding your every move, transaction and interaction into a centralised digital identity system hands over a vast trove of personal data. In an era where governments have repeatedly shown a penchant for overreach, can we trust that this data will not be misused? History screams no.
